Casemiro’s first season as a Manchester United player had fans dreaming again and there was genuine hope that his second campaign could be something special.
Then manager Erik ten Haag decided to implement the wrong style of high transition and the Brazilian looked like a fish out of water and all those dreams quickly crumbled.
Injuries haven’t helped either, but it’s clear that age has caught up with him and after an FA Cup final showdown with the Dutchman, the former Real Madrid superstar looks set to be on his way with clubs from Saudi Arabia desperate for his signature.
INEOS would be more than happy to shed their huge wages but will need to find the perfect match for academy sensation Kobbie Mainoo.
Neves races
Benfica’s prodigious talent Joao Neves is being touted as a top target The People’s Person even recently reporting that the club made their first offer of €60 million which was immediately rejected by the Portuguese giants.
They value their talisman at a minimum of 100 million euros, while he has a release clause of 120 million euros in his contract. Few teams are likely to challenge it.
There are talks of another bid from the Red Devils, but for now, Benfica seem adamant they won’t sell for anything less than eight figures.

The midfield maestro is attracting a lot of interest across Europe, with Paris Saint-Germain the latest team to join the fray.
PSG now enters the fray
PSG coach Luis Enrique is a big fan and has asked his club to try to reach a deal for the 19-year-old prodigy.
The Ligue 1 giants have been in contact with their Portuguese counterparts over a summer move, but that looks complicated as they are in no position to pay Benfica’s asking price.
“João Neves: Luis Enrique’s priority in midfield, but a very complicated file for PSG,” RMC Sport wrote journalist Fabrice Hawkins X (earlier Twitter).
“The two sides have recently exchanged. The main problem remains the price requested by Benfica: more than 100 million euros,” he added.
This saga is far from over and with Benfica needing cash to balance their books, something has to give this window.
