The New England Patriots created an open roster spot on Monday when they released rookie offensive lineman Ryan Johnson after completing mandatory minicamp.

Late Monday night, New England filled that spot by signing offensive tackle Liam Fornadel, according to UFL Newsroom’s Christian Paolantonio.

Fornadel spent five seasons at James Madison, starting 41 games split between left tackle, right tackle and right guard. He was First-team All-CAA and Second-team All-American in 2019 as well as Second-team All-CAA in 2018.

Fornadel earned All-XFL honors with the D.C. Defenders in 2023 and rejoined the team for the 2024 season in the UFL.
