Manchester United have confirmed that Jadon Sancho made his return to training at Carrington, where he joined the main group for a session.

Sancho spent the second half of the 2023/24 season out on loan with Borussia Dortmund after he fell out with Erik ten Hag.

In September, Ten Hag informed journalists that Sancho was left out of the matchday squad that made its way to London to face Arsenal due to his poor performances in training. The winger responded via a strongly-worded public statement, which he published on social media.

The 24-year-old essentially branded Ten Hag a liar and accused the Dutch coach of using him as a scapegoat for the team’s struggles.

Despite the best efforts of senior United chiefs to try and reconcile the pair, an apology from Sancho was not forthcoming. This led to his banishment from the senior squad. He was exiled and instructed to train away from the first team.

At Dortmund, Sancho enjoyed a slight upturn in fortunes as he helped the Bundesliga giants reach the Champions League final. The Signal Iduna Park outfit ultimately fell short as they were beaten by Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid.

Since his loan tenure in Germany expired, there has been plenty of speculation over Sancho’s future. Unsurprisingly, Dortmund wanted him back but it was repeatedly made clear that they couldn’t afford to meet United’s asking price.

He was also linked to Juventus and it’s believed that his agent even held talks with the Serie A club.

However, it seems that United have had a change of heart and pending any further surprise developments, Sancho is set to stay at Old Trafford for the upcoming 2024/25 season.

United have confirmed that the England international returned for testing on Wednesday. He then trained with the group on Thursday.

According to journalist Rich Fay, “Jadon Sancho has returned to full United training. He held a positive meeting with Erik ten Hag this week and both agreed to draw a line on their disagreement and move on. He won’t feature against Rosenborg but is in contention for all other pre-season matches.”

This information has been corroborated by The Daily Mail’s Chris Wheeler who also reiterated that Sancho held “positive talks” with Ten Hag, where it was agreed that the two would move past their differences.

“Sancho has trained at Man Utd for the first time since going on loan to Dortmund after Ten Hag fall-out. The two held ‘positive’ talks and agreed to draw a line under their row.”

“Sancho will be available to play again although he will not face Rosenborg on Monday.”

After the pre-season game vs. Rosenborg, United will then meet Rangers on July 20.
