Manchester United have confirmed that academy star Toby Collyer has put pen to paper on fresh terms to extend his stay with the club.

Collyer arrived at United in 2022 from Brighton and Hove Albion with a big reputation.

At 20, Collyer stands out as one of the most physically developed players in United’s youth ranks, with his height and strength making him well-suited for a holding midfield role.

He is an adept passer of the ball who also possesses the ability to initiate attacks by himself through his exquisite dribbling.

The youngster is predominantly right-footed but he’s also no slouch with his left foot.

Collyer was first named in a United matchday squad by Erik ten Hag during the defeat at the hands of Fulham back in February.

During a 2023/24 season in which the Red Devils were blighted by injuries, Collyer made the first-team bench for seven Premier League matches including each of the last four fixtures in the top flight.

The midfielder was also an unused substitute during the Emirates FA Cup fifth-round win vs. Nottingham Forest. He has been a regular in the Under-18s and Under-21s.

United have now relayed that Collyer has signed a new contract with the club running until 2027.

The Red Devils retain an option to extend his deal by an additional 12 months.

United add, “The new deal is reward for his efforts since joining the club and everybody would like to congratulate Toby and wish him well for what lies ahead in 2024/25.”

Collyer will be hoping that he gets game time in the club’s pre-season. Erik ten Hag’s side play Rosenborg on Monday in a friendly and it’s likely that fans will see a mix of youth and senior stars.
