Reigning La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly set to lodge a new bid for key Manchester United defensive target Leny Yoro.

Yoro broke into Lille’s first team during the 2022/23 season and went on to play 44 games for the Ligue 1 club last term, alerting a host of top European clubs to his incredible abilities and potential for the future.

Alongside United and Madrid, other outfits mentioned to be admirers of the player are Liverpool, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

However, as it stands, it appears that it’s a two-way battle between Madrid and United for the 19-year-old’s signature.

A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Lille accepted United’s €50 million proposal for Yoro, who is set to become a free agent next year.

The Red Devils are however yet to reach an agreement with the player over a switch to Old Trafford. Yoro’s heart is set on a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu but Los Blancos’ initial bid for him was thought to have only been worth around £17m – a sum that falls significantly below Lille’s valuation.

It recently emerged that Yoro is increasingly opening up to the idea of playing under Erik ten Hag amidst Madrid’s reluctance to fork out what’s needed to land him.

It was stated that the Frenchman is in talks with United over the wages he would command at Old Trafford.

According to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Madrid are poised to step up the ante in an effort to win the transfer race for Yoro.

Hawkins wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Real Madrid will make a new offer for Leny Yoro. The defender always gives priority to Madrid.”

He added that United are still pushing and have not given up.

Yoro is thought to be a higher priority for United in comparison to Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt. United remain in talks with Bayern to try and reach middle ground over a move to England for De Ligt.
