WASHINGTON, D.C. — Four Pennsylvania men, including a 75-year-old retired NASCAR driver and grandfather, have been arrested on charges related to their involvement in the January 6, 2021, breach of the U.S. Capitol. The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced the arrests today, detailing the charges against each individual stemming from the events that disrupted the Congressional session intended to certify the 2020 presidential election results.

The individuals charged are Tighe John Scott, 75, of Pen Argyl; Scott Slater Sr., 56; Scott Alex Slater Jr., 26; and Jarret Carl Scott, 48, all from Saylorsburg. The charges range from felony offenses of obstruction of law enforcement during a civil disorder to various misdemeanor offenses associated with entering and engaging in violence within restricted Capitol grounds.

Tighe John Scott, the eldest of the group and a former NASCAR driver, faces charges including obstruction and assaulting officers. He, along with the other three, was allegedly identified in body-worn camera footage and publicly available videos as engaging physically with police officers during the Capitol breach.

The incident report details that at about 4:00 p.m. on January 6, the group, referred to as the Scotts and Slaters, was seen verbally harassing and physically confronting police officers. Notably, Slater Jr. is accused of using a flagpole and a sign to strike police officers, while both Tighe Scott and the others are said to have resisted police efforts to clear the terrace area of rioters, using physical force against riot shields and engaging in other aggressive actions.

The FBI arrested the four men in Pennsylvania, and they are expected to make their initial court appearances in the Middle District of Pennsylvania. This case continues to unfold as federal authorities proceed with legal actions against those involved in the Capitol breach.
