Manchester United loanee Rhys Bennett has continued his good form for Fleetwood Town in his side’s 3-0 win over Barrow AFC in the Football League Trophy.
The 20 year old got another valuable 90 minutes under his belt, meaning he has started four of his eight appearances for the League Two side.
His place in the starting lineup came after an impressive 45 minute cameo off the bench against Bromley at the weekend, which culminated in the defender making a critical clearance off the line.
Starting alongside Finley Potter in the heart of the defence, Bennett was crucial in his side’s clean sheet despite the visitors having 13 shots and 57% of the ball.
Bennett was given a rating of 7 on Sofascore after playing the entire match.
He made three clearances in the contest and made one interception for his team, completing a total of three tackles.
Bennett also proved his physicality by winning three of his five ground duels and coming out on top in one out of three aerial battles.
The 2022 Youth Cup winning captain also showed off his ball-playing skills as he had 62 touches of the ball for the Fishermen.
He also completed 45 of his 52 passes for an impressive accuracy of 87%.
Probably more impressively, he was able to successfully complete four of his seven attempted long balls, demonstrating impressive range in his ball progression.
Bennett’s loan is already significantly more successful than his nightmare spell last year at Stockport County, where he only played one match.
During his time at Fleetwood he has already scored and assisted a goal as well as being a part of some impressive defensive displays.
Bennett will likely next be in action on Saturday the 19th of October when his side travel to Port Vale in the league, where he will certainly be hoping that another start and clean sheet are on the menu.
