Manchester United conceded a late goal to lose 1-0 against Rosenborg in their first pre-season clash ahead of the upcoming 2024/25 campaign.
The match took place at The Lerkendal Stadion in Norway.
Here are our player ratings for the match
(A score of 6 is around average)
First-half ratings
Radek Vitek 8 – Made a number of excellent saves, especially in the opening 45 minutes that kept the opposition from taking the lead.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka 5 – Like many of his teammates, he seemed to struggle with Rosenborg’s energy. Also had some instances in which he was poor in possession
William Fish 6 – Gave a decent account himself and was comfortable at the heart of the backline.
Jonny Evans 6 – Produced some important blocks. His maturity and experience really showed.
Sam Murray 5 – Made some mistakes in possession, including giving the ball on one occasion to give Rosenborg a chance to attack Vitek’s goal.
Casemiro 5 – Was sloppy at times and also looked sluggish. Found himself on the receiving end of a very heavy tackle early into the game.
Hannibal Mejbri 6 – Was one of United’s most energetic players both on and off the ball. Some very promising signs.
Mason Mount 6 – Had some positive actions and was very lively. Seemed to want it more than most of his teammates.
Ethan Williams 5 – Struggled to get into the game
Marcus Rashford 6 – Looked sharp and was dangerous at times. He was United’s main source of threat.
Ethan Wheatley 6 – Didn’t have much to work with. Was tidy in possession and had a golden chance to score but his shot only stung the goalkeeper’s gloves.
Second-half ratings
Erik ten Hag completely changed his outfield set-up for the second half, with Vitek the only survivor from the starting XI.
Vitek 9 – Picked up where he left off as he continued to make multiple saves that kept United in the game. Was unfortunate not to keep a clean sheet.
Habeeb Ogunneye 6 – Some decent contributions
Sonny Aljofree 6 – Was solid, held his position well and did the simple things right.
Rhys Bennett 6 – Like his centre-back partner, he was comfortable and mostly did what was expected of him.
Harry Amass 5 – Didn’t offer much going forward mostly because United were pegged back by the opposition.
Maxi Oyedele 7 – Produced some polished passing and helped inject some energy into the side.
Toby Collyer 7 – Was measured and assured in his actions in the middle of the park
Jack Fletcher 6 – Decent performance, nothing special.
James Scanlon 6 – Couldn’t really make his mark.
Ethan Ennis 6 – Produced a terrific strike in the 70th minute but the Rosenborg goalkeeper was equal to the task and thwarted him.
Joe Hugill 5 – Was mostly isolated and had very little to pounce on.
