Rosenborg BK’s 17 year old midfielder Sverre Halseth Nypan has claimed it would be a dream to play for Manchester United.

The youngster will have the opportunity to take on the Red Devils this coming Monday, as his side welcome United to Norway in what will be the club’s first pre-season game of the new campaign.

United have been active in the window so far and one key characteristic of Ineos’ transfer business is to target young talent as deals for James Overy, Camron Mpofu and Silva Mexes have already been completed.

United have also been linked to Nypan in the past and were willing to wait until he turned 18 years old next January to make a move.

The young Norwegian has also had his say on the matter and has confirmed he is aware of United’s interest.

Speaking on the United Norway Podcast he claimed, “it would obviously be a dream come true to play for Manchester United. I’m aware United has shown some interest.”

Nonetheless, it does not seem a move for the player is currently on the cards as he is only concentrating on his progress with Rosenborg at the moment.

He went on to say “but I’m quite adamant that I don’t want to open that door yet. I want to focus on Rosenborg, and not think too far ahead.”

The Red Devils have been watching the player since he was 16 years old and he is said to be a huge Manchester United fan, which will only help the club’s ambitions to sign the talented teenager in the future.

He has played 14 senior games so far this season, scoring twice and providing four assists and will be dreaming of making an impact this Monday against his boyhood heroes.

Nypan has previously been described as the “next Martin Odegaard” and is seen as one of Norway’s next great hopes.

He has also been labelled a player with a “very high football IQ” and a “player with an outstanding vision to execute killer passes and set up goalscoring opportunities for his teammates.”
