After another loss this weekend, the Houston Roughnecks have made a couple of moves. They’ve signed DB Mister Harriel, and released starting OT Na’Ty Rodgers, alongside RB Tiyon Evans.

Mister Harriel is no stranger to spring football. He was in the XFL last year, starting with the Vegas Vipers. There, he played in three games, totaling 12 tackles.
Harriel was let go by the Vipers, and ended up being claimed by the St. Louis Battlehawks. Mister played in the final game of the season against the Orlando Guardians, with one tackle on the day.
He went unprotected by the team during the merger, and has remained a free agent since. Harriel now will look to bring some to the Roughnecks secondary down the stretch of the UFL season.
Na’Ty Rodgers & Tiyon Evans Released
The Houston Roughnecks have released Na’Ty Rodgers, who has started at right tackle for the team the entire season. Rodgers has underwhelmed in 2024, after starting in nine of ten games for the Houston Gamblers a season ago.

Na’Ty has made a few glaring mistakes this year. Most notably, he had back to back penalties on a potential game winning drive against DC in week two.
Rodgers posted a 40.8 Offensive Grade this year via PFF – which is well below the average rating.
Tiyon Evans never really got a full shot at carrying the rock this year. He was an offseason addition by the Gamblers, and impressed with the Roughnecks in Training Camp. Evans played in only three games this year, with just five rushing yards to his name.
Final Thoughts
General Manager Lionel Vital is not waiting until the offseason to make some changes. The Roughnecks have disappointed this year, currently sitting with a 1-7 record – and one of the worst offenses in the entire UFL.
With playoffs long out of sight for this season, it certainly seems like Houston is now shifting their focus to what they are hoping is a stronger campaign in 2025.
