Manchester United have scored the third-fewest goals in the Premier League this season, less than two of the teams who are in the relegation zone currently.
Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Old Trafford saw more of the same profligacy on display with Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes guilty of spurning glorious chances.
Rasmus Hojlund struggled with his back to goal while Joshua Zirkzee has not looked like a competent striker since his summer move.
Ruben Amorim must find a solution for the lack of goals and according to Fichajes, the Portuguese is interested in a move for a striker the Red Devils have struggled to contain once already this season.
Omorodion dominated De Ligt
The 20-time English league champions’ thrilling 3-3 draw away at Porto saw the Old Trafford side take a two-goal lead, only to relinquish it and in the end, scramble to get one point.
Erik ten Hag was in charge at that point, with Samu Omorodion netting a brace as he completely dominated Matthijs de Ligt, who struggled to deal with the 20-year-old’s physicality.
Since his summer move, the Spain U21 international already has 11 goals in as many games and his incredible form has attracted plenty if interest from all across Europe.
Apart from the Manchester giant, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested but Porto had included a €100 million buyout clause so they are not too worried currently with the player also happy at Porto for now.
“Samu Omorodion, currently a FC Porto player, is in the sights of big European teams who are joining the bidding for the young Spaniard. One of them is Chelsea, managed by Enzo Maresca, who had targeted him in the last transfer window.
United, Chelsea, PSG eyeing the Spaniard
“Manchester United, managed by Ruben Amorim, are in a restructuring phase and are looking to strengthen their squad with quality players. The arrival of a striker with Samu’s potential could mean a significant improvement.
“Paris Saint-Germain are focused on remaining one of the most competitive clubs in Europe. The possibility of signing a player with Samu’s characteristics, who combines youth and talent, could be the key to further strengthening its attack.”
While his release clause makes him unattainable for now, United are best served keeping a close watch on his performances moving forward.
The Spaniard fits INEOS’ vision of signing the best young talents while his powerful frame and an eye for goal makes him a great fit for Amorim’s system. The striker needs to keep performing on the pitch and this interest could materialise into something concrete in the future.
