Ryan Garcia posted on social media a clip of Devin Haney’s father and manager, Bill Haney, saying that Devin was “Coming to kill” him ahead of their fight on April 20th. Garcia says that Bill’s “kill” comment leaves him with no choice but to sue.
It’s unclear if Bill was serious when he mentioned that Devin was coming to “kill” Ryan, but he looked dead serious with his facial expression.
“Devin isn’t going to box you, Ryan Garcia. He’s coming to kill you,” said Bill Haney in a video clip that Ryan Garcia posted today on X, resulting in him saying that he has no other choice but to sue him over this.
There was no hint of a smile on Bill’s face, and he didn’t appear to be acting theatrically to create fake hype. Papa Haney looked wolfish, as if Ryan had done Devin wrong, and he would pay the ultimate price. If Bill was only kidding around, he didn’t show it.
This would be a countersuit by Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs), who Haney and Bill are suing for these reasons:
- Battery: Ryan testing positive for the PED, Ostarine, means the fight wasn’t conducted under fair terms. Garcia was given extra help with the use of the performance-enhancing drug, which wasn’t known ahead of time by Devin and Bill Haney.
- Fraud: Devin assumed that Ryan would be drug-free for the fight, and he obviously wasn’t after he tested positive.
- Unjust enrichment: Haney believes Garcia unfairly made money from the fight because he wasn’t clean of drugs.

Hopefully, Haney and Ryan can settle their squabbles without going to court over this because it would ruin a potential rematch if the two end up bitter over their legal problems.
