METAIRIE, La. — New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave is questionable to play vs. the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday with a hamstring injury.
A source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Olave is considered day-to-day. Olave was added to the injury report on Friday and was listed as a limited participant in practice. He took part in the beginning of practice, which is open to the media, but was likely injured at some point later in the practice session.
The Saints could be without several starters or significant role players this week after ruling out linebacker Demario Davis. Davis (hamstring) will miss the first game due to injury of his career.
His lone missed game in 13 seasons was in 2021, when Davis was one of 20 Saints players out because of COVID-19 protocols.
The Saints (2-1) will also be without starting center Erik McCoy, who had groin surgery earlier this week, and starting right guard Cesar Ruiz (knee). McCoy left three snaps into last week’s game and was replaced by Lucas Patrick, who moved from left guard to center in his absence. He is now on injured reserve.
The absence of McCoy and Ruiz means the Saints offensive line will be completely different from the final lineup of 2023. Starting right tackle Trevor Penning was on the team last year but switched positions in the offseason. He started the 2023 season as a left tackle but was benched early in the season.
Alvin Kamara (hip/ribs) is also questionable and was a limited participant during Thursday and Friday’s practices Taysom Hill (chest) had no injury designation after missing last week’s game against the Eagles and practiced fully all week.
Olave is one of three injured Saints wide receivers. A.T. Perry, who hasn’t played this season, is out with a hamstring injury. Cedric Wilson Jr. is questionable after injuring his ankle earlier in the week
Olave currently leads the Saints with 178 receiving yards and scored his first touchdown this season last week. Rashid Shaheed, who is not on the Saints’ injury report, has 169 receiving yards this season.
