BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Six home games and a rematch against Florida in The Swamp highlight the Samford football team’s 2024 schedule, announced by head coach Chris Hatcher on Tuesday.

For the first time in over a decade, Samford will open a season with back-to-back road games as the Bulldogs head to West Georgia on Saturday, August 31 and Florida on September 7.
The season opener at West Georgia will be the first time the two squads have met on the gridiron since 2008 and will be West Georgia’s first game as a Division I program.
Florida and Samford will meet for the first time since the Bulldogs dropped a historic 52 points on the Gators during the 2021 meeting.
After the opening two weeks on the road, Samford returns to Birmingham on September 14 for the first home opener in the newly renovated Pete Hanna Stadium against in-state foe Alabama State. Despite being separated by 89 miles on I-65, the two programs have not played football against each other since 1991.
Following the annual bye week, a battle between the last two Southern Conference champions is slated for September 28 as the Bulldogs head to South Carolina for a showdown with Furman.
To open the month of October, the Keydets of VMI come to town on October 5 before Samford vists ETSU on October 12.
The Mercer Bears return to Birmingham on October 19 for the first time since the double-overtime instant classic in 2022.
After the matchup with Mercer, the Bulldogs will make the trek to Charleston, South Carolina for the all-Bulldog battle with The Citadel on October 26.
November opens with back-to-back home games as Samford welcomes Wofford (Nov. 2) and Tennessee Tech (Nov. 9) to town before the final road game of the regular season on Nov. 16 at Chattanooga.
Senior Night is tentatively scheduled for the Western Carolina game that concludes the regular season on Nov. 23.
Family Weekend, Homecoming, start times and broadcast information for all games will be announced at a later date.
