Sofyan Amrabat would have rejected Fenerbahce even if their €10 million offer had been accepted as he still wants to join Manchester United.
The Moroccan spent last season on loan from Fiorentina and played 30 times in all competitions for the Red Devils.
His performances were largely non-descript but he forced his way into the team in the final month of his loan and played a key role in United’s FA Cup victory over Manchester City with pundit Paul Scholes claiming his performance was something like a legendary Italian Gennaro Gattuso would have put in.
Despite this, United refused to pay the €20 million option they had to extend his deal as they are seemingly pursuing other midfield targets such as Manuel Ugarte at Paris Saint-Germain.
This has resulted in other clubs registering their interest in the player and Turkish side Fenerbahce have already had a bid rejected for the midfielder.
According to Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), the 27 year old would have rejected the chance to move to Turkey even if the offer had been given the green light.
The Italian newspaper states he’s “confidently waiting” for Manchester United to move for him just like he did at the end of last year’s window.
United have been reportedly interested in making another loan deal for the player but the Italian outfit naturally prefer a permanent sale to rid themselves of a player who has no interest in returning to them.
Amrabat has also been linked to numerous other teams such as SS Lazio but no deal has materialised and the reports have claimed the Moroccan is keen to return to United and enjoyed living in the city of Manchester.
The Moroccan World Cup hero of 2022 waited out all summer last year, rejecting numerous offers from other clubs including Liverpool to sign at Old Trafford on deadline day last year.
On signing for the club he labelled it a “dream” and it seems that he is keen to try and make this reality happen once more.
If United have to pay above €10 million it seems they are unlikely to do a deal as he is clearly not a priority. But if Fiorentina get desperate to sell, it is possible that they may just accept a smaller loan fee and the Red Devils could have extra depth, as manager Erik ten Hag is clearly keen on the player.
