Chelsea have reportedly made a contract bid for Fulham star Tosin Adarabioyo as Manchester United and Newcastle look to sign him.

Adarabioyo is believed to be a player United are very interested in ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

The main attraction for the Englishman is that he is out of contract at Craven Cottage in a few days and can be bought on a free.

In the current football environment, it is rare to find quality like Adarabioyo for nothing, which is why some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs are in the hunt for him.

The 26-year-old made 20 Premier League appearances in the just-completed 2023/24 season. During that time he helped Fulham keep six clean sheets.

Adarabioyo is an intelligent defender who is very good at anticipating attacks and snuffing out threats before they materialize. He is great at reading crosses and has excellent positioning that helps him cut out opposition passes before they reach the goal.

His huge frame gives him an advantage in duels both on the ground and in the air. He’s also quite fast, which comes in handy when you’re up against speedy players up front.

The Peoples Person recently covered a report stating that despite clear indications Newcastle are leading the race to sign him, United still want him and are ready to hijack the Magpies’ deal to take him to St James’ Park.

Adarabioyo is expected to make a decision on his preferred transfer destination later this week.

According to Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas, Chelsea have entered the race to sign Adarabioyo.

Thomas wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “Chelsea have made a contract offer for Tosino. Chelsea have stepped up their interest in trying to beat #Newcastle, who remain in talks.”

Details such as the length of the contract offered by the Blues and the proposed financial package for the player should he push for a move to Stamford Bridge remain unknown.

From United’s perspective, they may feel they have an advantage over Chelsea and Newcastle as they can offer Adarabioyo Europa League football, which they won after winning the FA Cup at the weekend.
