Arlington has had success with Rookie Draft selections in the past – but most of them haven’t been their own. HC Bob Stoops and GM Rick Mueller ended up targeting a couple of Rookie Draft picks from Houston during the Dispersal Draft, picking up Lindsey Scott Jr. and Marcus Minor.
In the UFL College Draft, the Renegades didn’t draft any free agents. All ten players are rostered with an NFL organization at the moment.
QB John Rhys Plumlee | UCF
With their first pick in the UFL College Draft, the Arlington Renegades selected QB John Rhys Plumlee – who is currently a Pittsburgh Steeler. Rhys Plumlee began his college career at Ole Miss, but was primarily a backup for his final two years there.

In 2022, John made his way over to UCF. He started in 22 of his final 23 games, throwing for over 4,800 yards and 29 touchdowns, to 16 interceptions. Plumlee can also use his legs to make plays, rushing for 2,550 yards throughout his collegiate career. With the uncertainty at the QB position for Arlington heading towards 2025, Rhys Plumlee would be an intriguing addition if he becomes available.
OT Griffin McDowell | Tennessee-Chattanooga
McDowell played at Florida for a few years, with 40 appearances at the school. The Gators were 28-12 in games that Griffin participated in. Griffin transferred to Tennessee-Chattanooga for his final year of eligibility, starting all 13 games at left tackle. He has since signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an UDFA. Arlington’s offensive line played quite well in 2024, but Griffin is the type of prospect who could land on the roster within the next couple of years.
LB Kalen Deloach | Florida State
Kalen Deloach is a versatile linebacker who played the entirety of his college football at Florida State. He stuffed the stat sheets during his time there, racking up 178 tackles, eight sacks, 18 TFL’s, 12 PBU’s, and two interceptions.
Bucs got another animal at LB. No reason Kalen Deloach shouldn’t be able to fulfill a modern LB role in Nickel packages. Can cover too. UDFA gem

Deloach signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an UDFA, and is expected to make some noise in Training Camp/Preseason.
NT Popo Aumavae | Oregon
Continuing the trend of snagging defensive gems, the Arlington Renegades selected NT Popo Aumavae with their fourth pick in the UFL College Draft. Popo is currently signed with the Carolina Panthers.

Aumavae spent his college years at Oregon, working his way into a starting role during the final couple of seasons he played, albeit missing the 2022 campaign with an injury. He finished his career at Oregon with 84 tackles, 12 TFL’s, and 6.5 sacks.
LB Amari Gainer | North Carolina
Amari Gainer is a tackling machine, having spent most of his time with the Florida State Seminoles. Across his college career, Gainer totaled 237 tackles and 8.5 sacks. He transferred to North Carolina for his final year of eligibility, posting 27 tackles, six TFL’s, and 2.5 sacks.

Gainer’s athletic traits are off the charts, having been ranked 194th out of 2,889 linebackers who were a part of the Relative Athletic Scoring testing. Amari signed with the Las Vegas Raiders as an UDFA in late April.
OLB Bo Richter | Air Force
Bo Richter signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an UDFA, after playing for three seasons with the Air Force. Across that span, he racked up 85 tackles, 11.5 sacks, and an interception.

Richter is elite as a pass rusher, having consistently seen some of the top PFF grades in all of college football. Bo scored a ridiculous 9.91 score (out of 10.00) via Relative Athletic Scoring.
DT Taki Taimani | Oregon
Taki Taimani is another player who signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an UDFA. Arlington targeted defensive players for their front seven, and Taimani fits that bill. He spent time in college with both Washington and Oregon, totaling 107 tackles.
After making the move to Oregon, Taki spent the 2022 season as a depth piece. He earned a starting role in 2023, and took full advantage of it with 22 tackles and 1.5 TFL’s.
OT Spencer Rolland | North Carolina
Funny enough, Rolland is also a player who was signed to the Minnesota Vikings as an UDFA. Bob Stoops and Rick Mueller must have a similar formula to Kevin O’Connell and Kwesi Adofo-Mensah when it comes to acquiring young talent.
Spencer began his collegiate career at Harvard, and earned First Team All-Ivy League honors during the 2021 season. In 2022, he made the move to North Carolina, and started in 26 games with the school. In 2023, Rolland was a William V. Campbell Trophy Semifinalist.
C Braison Mays | Southern Miss
Braison Mays is a Center out of Southern Miss, who is currently signed with the San Francisco 49ers. Mays began his college career at WVU, playing in 23 games there – making seven starts. After transferring to Southern Mississippi, Briason ended up starting in 25 of 33 games played. Given his experience at multiple OL positions, Mays is a versatile athlete who has plenty of upside with some development at the professional level.
WR Drake Stoops | Oklahoma
With their final pick in the UFL College Draft, Bob Stoops & Co. drafted his own son – Drake – out of Oklahoma. Interestingly enough, Drake is currently in the NFL, with the Los Angeles Rams. However, if he doesn’t make the 53 man roster, he could end up playing for his dad in the UFL.

At Oklahoma, Drake Stoops totaled 1,876 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns, averaging 11.4 yards per reception. His senior season in particular was quite impressive, with 962 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Final Thoughts
Similar to some of the other teams in the UFL College Draft, the Arlington Renegades are taking more of a “big picture” approach. With all 10 prospects currently on NFL rosters, it’s unlikely that most will be available for the 2025 UFL season. That said, there’s always the opportunity for these players to sign down the road (i.e., 2026, 2027, etc.) – Arlington will always hold their rights in the UFL.
After a 3-7 record in 2024 following their XFL Championship in 2023, the Renegades will likely look to make some changes to the roster ahead of 2025. It will be intriguing to watch what happens to the roster, once free agency opens up.
