Valtteri Bottas has shared the latest surrounding talks over his Formula 1 future, stating that he is “trying to stay positive” while Kick Sauber chiefs deliberate on who should partner Nico Hulkenberg next season.

Sauber, having been taken over by Audi earlier this year, prior to becoming the German car manufacturer’s works operation, are one of only two teams – along with RB – yet to confirm their full 2025 driver line-up.

Bottas has been talking with team chief Mattia Binotto for some time but, with just six rounds of the 2024 campaign remaining, still does not know if he will be keeping his seat for another term.

It comes amid several other drivers being linked to the drive, including Williams stand-in star Franco Colapinto and former Haas racer Mick Schumacher – who would both represent a more youthful route than 35-year-old Bottas.

Asked why the discussions are rumbling on, Bottas said: “I think that’s more a question for Mattia. There’s nothing really I can do at this point, so I’ll just focus on racing and my performance. You should ask Mattia!
