Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof’s wage demands are holding up any departure from Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are now paying the price of years of Glazer mismanagement of finances and poor decisions in the transfer market.

Despite new owners Ineos’ desire to spend in the market, they have been hamstrung by PSR restrictions and their inability to sell players.

The side from the Theatre of Dreams are keen to add Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs de Ligt and a defensive midfielder to their squad before the window shuts but all three deals are in serious jeopardy due to the lack of outgoings.

It was thought that Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Scott McTominay were both out the door last week but both moves seem to have stalled, leaving a move for a Mazraoui and a midfielder in limbo.

United would also ideally like to bring in De Ligt but defenders like Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire seem content to stay at the club as bit part players.

The club would be more than open to selling Lindelof but like in many other cases, have found it tough to find a buyer.

The Telegraph reports that “there has been tentative interest from Italy and Turkey in Lindelof but his wages are an obstacle for suitors.”

The Swedish defender reportedly earns around £120,000 a week and this will be well above the wage limits of the type of team looking to buy him.

Teams such as Everton, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray have all been linked to the player but no move has come into fruition as they are unlikely to want to pay the former Benfica man anything like those wages.

The Red Devils suffered a similar case when they spent years trying to sell Anthony Martial but due to the massive salary he was earning, no club was prepared to take the plunge.

This issue is still plaguing the forward as he is still without a club with just over three weeks of the transfer market left.
