Manchester United produced an incredible performance out of nowhere to bring the FA Cup back to Old Trafford.

Erik ten Haag’s men were full of energy and danger in the first half and scored two quick goals on the counter within ten minutes of the first half.

Teenage heroes Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo represented what was right in United’s games and deservedly they were the goal-scoring heroes.

The Red Devils had to work their socks off to hold on against Manchester City, but in truth, they didn’t give up anything like the chances many expected.

United’s all-time top goalscorer Wayne Rooney said he was delighted for his team-mates and believed they were worthy of their stunning win.

Speaking to the BBC, he praised two of United’s teenage heroes, but especially man of the match Kobi Mainoo.

The 19-year-old produced a wonderful counter-attack to give the Reds a two-goal cushion going into the game.

Speaking of the youngster’s efforts, he said, “to come into the middle of the pitch and dominate the way Kobbie Mainoo has done for a large part of this season and to play the way he did against this Manchester City team.”

The legendary striker then heaped praise on United’s second goalscorer, Garnach.

“The two of them (Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho) have been standout players for Manchester United this season. It’s great for them to win matches, I’m really happy for them.”

Rooney also spoke of how happy he was for his former team and said: “It was such a big task for Manchester United to come here today and beat the champions. I thought they were absolutely fantastic with the resilience they showed, their work rate and effort.”

“I think they deserved to win. I am absolutely delighted.”

When the dust settles on the glorious day, INEOS will really get down to business in what promises to be an incredible busy summer for the Red Devils, with Erik ten Hag’s future dominating the headlines for days, if not hours, to come.
