Matthijs de Ligt is allowed to leave FC Bayern Munich, and Manchester United has shown interest, but they are cautious about the price.

According to fussball. news, the Dutch central defender is a candidate for the Red Devils.

However, despite ongoing communication with his agent, negotiations are not progressing swiftly.

No significant movement is expected during the current European Championship, where De Ligt has yet to play a single minute.

This lack of playing time has affected his market value, making it challenging for Bayern to recoup the €67 million they paid to Juventus.

From United’s perspective, a package involving €40 million plus bonuses and a resale share is under consideration.

United is looking for a central defender in the €30-40 million range, while de Ligt is valued between €50-60 million.

It’s possible that negotiations may bring both sides closer together.

United has conducted extensive background checks on the Dutch centre back,  noting his experience, robustness in duels, and leadership qualities.

However, financial constraints and internal concerns about his injury history and speed make the club hesitant to invest heavily.

Erik ten Hag, Man United’s current and De Ligt’s former coach at Ajax, is reportedly open to a reunion, but the transfer still faces several hurdles.

Bayern, on the other hand, seems to be planning without De Ligt.

The arrival of Hiroki Ito and Jonathan Tah suggests that the Dutch defender may no longer fit into Vincent Kompany’s plans.

Despite his popularity with fans for his leadership and robust defending, De Ligt’s future at Bayern looks uncertain.
