The last weekend of June marked the second appearance of the X Games in Ventura. Athletes from across the globe brought their BMX bikes, motocross rides and skateboards to the Ventura County Fairgrounds to fly, grind, flip and trick in the action sports competition. Spirits were high June 28-30 for the thousands of fans who packed the bleachers, lounges and general admission observation areas, and for good reason: The feats of strength and skill, combined with the energy and fearlessness, were nothing less than awe inspiring. Photographer Chris Mortenson came out with his camera and eye for adventure to capture the action.
