Kick Sauber drivers Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu were left to run challenging weekends at the Miami Grand Prix as their bid to score their first point of the season was in motion.

With the Sprint format in play, Bottas and Zhou both suffered back-to-back SQ1 and Q1 exits around Miami International Autodrome – the Chinese racer slowest of all during Grand Prix qualifying.

In the Grand Prix itself, the pair were unable to impress in the points-paying positions, with Bottas risking a software start and Zhou ending up in them following a mid-race safety car.

Reflecting on his 16th start and finish, Bottas said: “Of course, the starting position wasn’t the best, so I think it was good to try something different. Then, frankly, with that strategy, the safety car’s time was the worst possible.
